BIO
I am a citizen of the world. I’m originally from Egypt, but I grew up in Kuwait, worked in the United Arab Emirates, lived and studied in Auckland and I am proud NZ citizen.
My professional background is also diverse. Before having an academic career, I have had 14 years of industry experience in marketing and communications. I worked in public relations with several agencies (JWT, Weber Shandwick, bare.PR and Acumen Republic); I was a Marketing Manager for an international luxury retailer (Alfred Dunhill Ltd.) and I was a marketing consultant for Aurthur Murray Ballroom Dance Studios. I made a big decision (and took a risk) to leave the corporate world and move into academia to pursue a Masters and then a PhD at AUT University in Auckland, NZ. After completing my doctorate I accepted a role as a Lecturer at AUT before making the move with my family to Melbourne. I am now a Senior Lecturer in marketing at RMIT University and currently becoming a true Melbournian!
